My Story,
My Story,
I’m Cat, and I’m deeply committed to helping pet parents feel informed and confident when it comes to their dogs’ health.
When I first became a pet parent, I followed the advice I was given. Like many people, I trusted conventional guidance from vets, advertising, and those around me. I fed the foods I was told were “complete,” walked my dogs daily, and stayed on top of parasite treatments and annual vaccines, believing this was what responsible pet care looked like.
In 2018, everything changed when I lost my Boston Terrier, Betty, at just two and a half years old. Betty was born with physical deformities, and over time her health became increasingly fragile. In 2017 she stopped eating, lost weight, and needed constant care. Much of this was attributed to pain in her legs, and under professional guidance I syringe-fed prescription food and gave daily pain medication for months, hoping to see improvement.
In October 2018, Betty suffered a seizure that she never truly recovered from. After weeks in intensive care and extensive treatment, an MRI showed severe damage to her brain. We made the heartbreaking decision to let her go. It was only after losing her to inflammatory brain disease that I realised there were other paths and options I hadn’t known to explore. That realisation has stayed with me and continues to shape everything I do.
During this time, I was still advised to continue vaccinations, chemical treatments, and highly processed foods. Betty’s brother, Borris, later began having seizures of his own and was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2018. His first seizure occurred shortly after several doses of a prescribed flea treatment. After losing Betty, I found myself searching for answers and trying to understand how this could happen.
That search led me to learn more about ultra-processed pet foods and the potential effects of chemical treatments—things that had never been explained to me before. I spent years reading, researching, and carefully exploring alternative ways to support Borris and help him live as comfortably as possible.
Over the next five years, I immersed myself in learning about canine nutrition, holistic health, and lifestyle changes that could support better long-term wellbeing. I wanted to do everything I could to avoid experiencing that level of loss again and to make more informed choices for my dogs.
This journey led me to start an organic dog grooming product business in 2020, which later grew into a natural pet shop. I also pursued formal education in canine nutrition and holistic health so I could share what I had learned with others who, like me, simply want to do their best for their dogs.
The past eight years have been full of learning and reflection. I’ve worked through a lot of information to understand what we can realistically control in our daily lives to support our dogs’ health. I’ve tested, adjusted, and lived by these principles myself, and I’ve simplified them so others don’t have to navigate it all alone.
Real change doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, learning, and paying close attention to your dog as an individual. It also takes confidence to ask questions and make thoughtful decisions on their behalf.
If you’ve experienced the loss of a pet, or you worry about the health of the dog you love, I understand. You’re not alone in wanting better for them.
My goal is to help pet parents feel empowered, informed, and supported—because our dogs rely on us to advocate for their health, and we are capable of doing that.
